Video Transcript: Hello, today I am talking about prison. What’s hearing people going to prison? Also, what’s deaf people going to prison? Have inequality… Why? What happens? Have a look at YouTube.
Hello YouTube, I am talking about prison release for Hearing and Deaf prisoners. It’s completely different, not equality. Why?
Example, it is a true story… the person told me that, it is anonymous, it impacted me. My heart is heartbreaking. Why? Hearing prisoner was cautioned and went to prison. They had good behaviour, attended the training for looking the new jobs, money advice, and looking for a house. They trained to keep going, going well through the process. They were released but should have stayed at the prison for 4 years, released two years earlier. Now, let’s talk about deaf prisoners, that’s a huge difference. The deaf prisoners wanted to attend the training for money advice, looking for a house, good behaviour, same for both as hearing and deaf prisoners. The prison chief refused to pay the interpreter because it is money, save the money.
Actually, the deaf prisoners stayed there for four years, hearing prisoners can be released and go home earlier.
Is it equality? What do you think? Please make your comments, disagree or agree?
How to improve to meet equality about early releasing at the same time? Is it positive good?
Deaf prisoners stuck and stayed at prison for four years then released. (Head shaking) It is very sad! Not fair! My heart pains. Imagine, if I go to prison, asking for training and booking an interpreter? They refused it. It’s really painful.
How to solve it? The prison chief must pay the interpreter, that’s it because of boundaries.
When the interpreter came and the deaf prisoner came too. The interpreter uses sign language with face-to-face is better, but I am not sure about remote interpreting depending on the quality of wifi, connectivity, and confidentiality overheard the background from the group teaching. I advised and recommended a face-to-face interpreter to the prison chief and noticed it seems working well all deaf prisoners had good behaviour same as hard of hearing, hearing loss had good behaviour, received training, looking for jobs, money advice, looking for a house, relationships with family and friends, helped a lot with motivation then achievement.
Thank you for watching.
