We are Deaf sports fans who pay full subscription prices for @DiscoveryPlusUK, @TNTSports, and @AmazonUK — yet for over a year, live football and rugby have been broadcast without subtitles or audio description.
📅 Saturday 1st November 2025 – live rugby and football on TNT Sports (via Discovery+ / Amazon Prime Video)📅 Saturday 8th November 2025 – Spurs v Manchester United on TNT Sports 1
👉 Both broadcasts had no subtitles and no audio description.🎥 I’ve combined short video clips showing these accessibility failures as evidence.
🧾 Discovery+ case: 23342785🗂️ Ofcom references: 02104092 (football) and 02104096 (rugby)
I subscribed to Discovery+ in March 2025, and not a single live TNT Sports event has included subtitles since.By contrast, Amazon Prime Video’s own sports coverage does provide subtitles — the problem lies specifically with TNT Sports streams available through Discovery+ and Amazon’s TNT Sports add-on.
This means Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers are excluded every week from commentary, interviews, and analysis — despite paying the same price as hearing customers.
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers must make reasonable adjustments for Deaf and disabled people. Accessibility is not optional — it’s a legal and moral right.
We’re calling on:👉 @Ofcom👉 @DiscoveryPlusUK👉 @TNTSports👉 @AmazonUK
to add subtitles and audio description for all live sports broadcasts.
@RNID, @EASSHelpline, @EHRC — to raise awareness and support equality for the Deaf community.
Together, we stand for fairness, inclusion, and accessibility in sport. Equality isn’t optional.
